Newly graduated engineer: Job Offer
At Jazzya, my holding company we are looking for a recent graduate in engineering. The job is in Madrid but there is travel involved. Job includes managing repairs or in case the candidate knows how, undertaking repairs of a sailing yacht, a private jet and different homes. Ideally it would be an “ingeniero de caminos” o “ingeniero naval” “o ingeniero civil”, a...

The trial Bin Laden did not get, Breivik will get. And we should be concerned. A few terrorists can cause tremendous harm. And we are about to give Breivik a global media platform to spread his hatred. https://plus.google.com/110874778461943365830/posts/gvhSWsiqx5z

Should you scare your kids into good behavior?
Do you live in a culture in which people believe it is fine to occasionally scare children with things like this so they behave? I know in Germany there are also characters that are meant to scare children into good behavior, like a bad Santa helper that punishes bad kids, Knecht Ruprecht or long nailed Struwwelpeter. We don’t have those scary characters in Latin cultures, nor in USA. ...

Social Media: the end of PR?
I have not had a PR agency for four years. I don’t know if that’s good or bad but I feel more comfortable dealing directly with the press over social media, phone, Skype and in person of course. I know I may not be doing exactly what is right for myself, my investments or Fon but what I found embarrassing about having a PR firm is this idea that they were “promoting”...

Nina and I will be parents in 18 days
Nina is a symptomless pregnant woman. A bit anxious now as the due date nears but that is normal. Me too I hope it all goes well. When we go to the doctor he reads a checklist of all the things that could be wrong her. She just answers no with a smile.

I don’t know what is more crazy about this story, that the cofounder of Reddit hacked MIT file systems or that in the US somebody can go to jail for 35 years for doing that. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/19/reddit-co-founder-charged-with-data-theft/?src=tptw

Google+ needs a hashtag system but better. What’s great about the hashtag system is that complete strangers gather around a common interest. It’s a phenomenal Twitter feature that I am surprised Google+ did not pick up. Because in Google+ you could do the second derivative of this feature. You could say, I would like to follow topic x everywhere on Google+ or topic x only in y circle.

The PM of Zimbabwe Morgan Tsvangirai wants to reform his country after 3 decades of Robert Mugabe rule but he says there’s no money to run an election. Sad as it only takes $8M. He also seems to have a face inside his forehead but that is neither here nor there. http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/07/17/zimbabwe.election/index.html?&hpt=hp_c2

I confess, most learning in my life, comes in...
Sixty per cent of my Twitter stream is not in English.  Instead it is mostly in Spanish with a little French and Italian, occasionally some Portuguese and Catalan, and a few times I struggle to decipher it in German. But my Google+ is a different story.  So far, almost everyone who shows up in my Google+ writes in English. And I have bad news to all the people who treasure their own languages....

Qaddafi seems to be close to surrendering to the British, French and US forces. Still wouldn’t it have been much better if fellow Muslims from nearby Tunisia and Egypt had defended the people of Benghazi and not the French, British, US and other Europeans? I hope the day comes when most affairs in Muslim countries are handled by other Muslims and not by Europe or US. Of course we should...

US journalists refuse to call terrorists who act... →
In this article in Slate the author makes a valid point that killings of doctors who practice abortion whose purpose is to stop others to practice medicine in the same way is not called terrorism. I would go further and wonder why these criminals are called Christian terrorists since they supposedly act in the name of their view of Christianity.

WiFi problems
One of the things that SUCK about WiFi is how hard it is sometimes to connect to public WiFi. I am in Paris now and there are signs everywhere that say WiFi for free. But then when you try to use it it does not allow you to surf certain sites, Google works, Yahoo doesn’t work. And you can send emails (I am posting on Tumblr via email) but you cannot receive email. WiFi gives you the best...
