We are in Miami. In South Beach. This city has grown on us. We bought an apartment here in mid 2009 as an investment only but it turned out that we come much more than we thought we would. I used to find Miami tacky and irrelevant. I don’t anymore, mainly for one reason, Nina are happy and in love in this city.
As a native Spanish speaker Miami is the most Spanish of all US cities. I don’t even try to speak English around here. It’s not like Spain, it is more like Latin America but with enough Anglo Saxon organization to make it work. And safe. We are here with Mia, our one month baby. She was amazing on the plane. Everyone loved her, if anything because she scared all of Iberia’s business class when we first boarded, and then as she was so quiet people felt kind of guilty of how they had reacted when we walked in. Some people dislike babies. But not people in Miami. Everywhere we go they look at her. Latinos have a lot of kids so they appreciate kids. They are on their radar. We appreciate them appreciating Mia. Mia who was conceived in MIA, in Miami. And now she is back here. As a person.
